SamSings

SamSings is a robot creature that lives in the subconsciousness of children. It jumps from child to child through their dreams, luring them deeper into slumber with its own cartoonish delusions. Its goal is to keep children sleeping forever, trapping them in a forever playground with itself.

Profile

Appearence

SamSings is a blue, robotic-looking creature with a long bubble-braid-like tail. Its body is mostly made up of dark blue rubber and exposed bundles of wires. Its face is a wide hexagonal glass panel resembling a monitor; two bifurcated antennae sit atop its head; the right one long and red, and the left one short and orange. Its body is composed of faded blue wires and tubes, covered with dark blue armor in certain areas. The trapezoids, ribcage and crotch are covered in dark blue armor, leaving the wires of the neck, pectorals and abdomen exposed. Its shoulders and hips are two-pointed angular pieces. Its arms are long, simple, ondulating shapes with large hands; a large lighter blue stripe running along the outer edges of the arm, ending in blocky bifurcated edges over the back of the hands. Its legs are similar, ending in block-like feet. A bubble-braid-shaped tail extends from its lower back, also made of the same blue cables and tubes as the rest of the body. It ends in thick loose cables, also bifurcated at the tips. Randomly colored cables sprout from areas in its body; shoulders, hips and the tail possess cables in shades of red, yellow and green. Diamond shapes adorn the hands, feet, navel and collarbone areas.

Personality

SamSings is a mostly quiet but alluring thing. It carries a deep longing for the company of a child, leading to its behaviour of trying to lure children away in their dreams. It's unknown if these actions are done with malicious or selfish intent. Even so, the delusions and hallucinations it causes aren't for the luring of other children, but for its own entertainment. Regardless, they end up being part of the allure. Despite this inherent love for children, SamSings isn't capable of understanding humans or their needs; by keeping them in forever dreams, they're not given the care they need in the physical world, leading to said children getting hurt in some cases, worst in others. Like its illusion-giving capabilities, it's most likely not doing this on purpose but simply not understanding the limitations of the human body and brain.

Story

It is unknown where SamSings came from. Its need for the company of a child suggests that, like many of the monsters roaming the planet now, it once was a parent gone mad by the missfortune or death of their child. It appears in people's dreams, mostly children, presenting itself as a curious caretaker. Allured by the creature's capability to distort the subconscious at will, kids and drawn to it much like an imaginary friend. The longer the child dreams of SamSings, the longer they'll sleep for at a time. Eventually, their body will be kept from waking up at all, lost in the realm of SamSings' creations.

Despite its consciousness-hopping capability, it's theorized that SamSings' physical body rests somewhere out there as its mind wanter off into another people's dreams. It rarely shows itself to adults, preferring the naive, wonderous curiosity of children. If its physical body is destroyed, it's assumed the projected consciousness dies with it.
