Purp

" Heyyy, relax lil' sis. Everything's gonna be a-okay, I can feel it. "

- Purp

Purp is a humanoid centipede creature who lives in the Bug Block in The Great Forest. She’s the town’s local stoner, her personality very derivative of the stereotypical hippie from the 1960s.
In the series, Purp is the peacekeeper of the group; she’s very mellow and calm, a good problem solver.

Profile

Appearence

Purp is a humanoid centipede creature. Her body is a cartoonish humanoid from the waist up and centipede looking from the waist down. Her body is separated in two textures; her face, front of body, belly, underside of arms, legs and paws are covered in white fluffy fur, while the back of her arms, legs, segments and back are covered in a dark purple hard shell similar to a bug’s exoskeleton. In the areas her exoskeleton parts connect, the skin underneath it is coloured fuchsia.

Her face is round and white, green eyes always half-closed and reddened with droopy eyelashes. Her nose is a tall pink triangle shape, her mouth a small, droopy smile. On each side of her face, next to her cheeks are two bug pincers in the same purple chitin as her body, two chunky antennae sprouting from the sides of her head just over her mandibles. Her face is framed by a fluffy bob haircut, white as the rest of her fur.

Purp doesn’t wear any clothes. Her arms are covered in purple chitin on the outside, the inner side of her arms the same white fur. In each hand and paw, her digits and palms have pawpads; her palm’s is pink, her thumb’s purple, her indicator’s a pale indigo, the middle finger’s green, the ring finger’s yellow and her pinkie’s a pale red. Her hands and paws have short, pointy black claws. From her chest to her naval, down all the way to the underside of her segments, she’s covered in white fur, the inner side of her legs also covered in it. From her hips down, her body is divided in 4 segments, each one with their pair of arm-legs. At the end of the last segment, two tails bent in a “M” shape sprout from the end of her body.

Personality

Purp is a pretty chill person; a laid back but optimistic bug. Obviously she’s supposed to parody the stereotype of the hippie movement in the 1960s, so she can be very mellow and use words like “bless” and “vibes”, though she can also mix words like chill and relax to “chillax”. Purp rarely gets angry or loses her temper, which proves to be a good quality to have while being a problem solver. Even so, sometimes her own optimism can get in the way of her understanding the gravity of some situations and relating to other people’s worries, even if her worry is genuine.

Story

Purp is the town’s local hippie; stereotypically high on all-natural substances, like weed or mushrooms. Purp lives in a tent made of cannabis leaves, which she decorates with trinkets and shiny things she finds on her walks through the forest and gets as gifts from her friends.

Purp is a vegetarian. As a bug known for hunting and eating other bugs, she decided early in life to go against her nature to live a pacifist life without meat. She does still eat animal products, like milk and eggs, though nobody knows what kind of milk and eggs it is she eats. She also grows her own veggies and fruit behind her house, being the best of the group at cooking.

Purp is very into yoga, arts and crafts, music, all the hippie tropes.

Relationships

Bitela

Bitela is one of the bugs Purp gets along with the best. Their shared love for gardening and planting their own stuff - food for Purp, flowers for Bitela - keeps them in conversation about whatever new gardening techniques and tricks they get an antenna on from the great vine. Bitela’s quiet, calm demeanour goes along well with Purp’s “go with the flow” mentality, though Purp finds her stag beetle friend to be more on the cautious, almost anxious side. In fact, that’s where the differ the most. While Purp believes in the big cosmos and karma, that the universe has a set way for things to happen and believes there’s no point in stressing about it, Bitela is more on the cautiously prepared side, putting in the work for what she wants to happen and not leave important matters up to fate.

Butters

Purp doesn't hate Butters, though she’s not so sure about how the feelings are the other way around. While Butters seems to fly around aimlessly looking for a reason for her urges and desires, some context to put her actions and feelings into perspective, Purp lets things fall into place in due time. Because of that, Purp sees Butters as a very impatient person, someone who rushes into solutions without even knowing the problem that well. Butters gets into a lot of screaming matches with Purp, who usually just stares back at her, higher than a kite, not really taking anything personally. Even then, when Butters lands back on planet Earth after letting her mind hop from planet to planet, she apologises for her behaviour, which Purp always forgives her for.

Nick "Sticks"

Purp’s friendship with Nick is mostly second-handed; they’re relationship is mostly a “we have common friends” one. Even so, they still manage to chit-chat and bond over their love for trinkets and shiny things, with Nick being particularly fascinated with trash humans leave behind in their forrest. Purp usually tries to stay clear of humans; she’s not particularly interested and is aware of how humans see centipedes as creepy crawlies.
