Railways

The Railways is an area in CHAPTER [[GARY]] referring to the railway system that connects all locations of [[GARY]] World. It is the location for the first Ben encounter and multiple boss fights in-game.
It's an area in-game present in both chapters, as it is present before a route decision can even be made.

Main Story

After getting through the Deal District, the party decides to try and venture into the TV Studio Tower, reasoning that the Dark Fountain must be hidden away inside the giant building. As they get closer to the railways, they get snatched from the streets below and brought aboard a passing cart. The boy who brought them aboard soon introduces himself as Ben, the son of the man who invited them into the TV Studio Tower after their first encounter at Plastic Plains. Once Ben arrives at the tower, he drops off the party at the Tourist Entrance and goes on his merry way, leaving the party to meet Gary by themselves.

Insider Route

During the Insider Route, access to the Railways is mostly limited to the Tourist Entrance through which the party arrived. At the end of the game, after phase 1 of Gary's boss fight, Gary fuses himself with his studio tower to become GIGA Gary and continue the boss fight. The Railways serve as the main setting for the fight, with the party standing on top of moving railway carts that circle GIGA Gary. In case secret bossfight conditions are met, phase 2 of Gary's bossfight will be cut off and replaced with the secret bossfight against Ben, now EggShells after being possessed by Gaster to eradicate Gary. Much like their first encounter, each party member stands on a moving cart while EggShells stands alone in another cart.

Outsider Route

During the Outsider Route, access to the Railways is very limited. With a special item in-game, it can be unlocked as a fast-travel system.

Sublocations

Despite not being considered part of the Railways location, the Tourist Entrance is the drop-off area where Ben leaves the party once they arrive at the TV Studio Tower.

Ben Encounter

Ben Encounter is the area where the party first meets Ben after being swooped from the Deal District streets into a moving railway cart. Despite the background for the cutscene being a vague animation loop of various buildings below, it can be assumed that the encounter takes place in the railway path from Deal District to the TV Studio Tower.

GIGA Gary Bossfight

The GIGA Gary Bossfight is phase 2 of the final boss fight against Gary. During this, as a last-ditch attempt at having enough power to defeat the party, Gary melts and fuses himself with his TV Studio Tower, forcing the party to jump onto passing railway carts as the building comes crashing down. In its place emerges GIGA Gary, who continues the fight.
During the boss fight, the party all stand in moving railway carts that move and curve around the giant-sized Darkner.

Secret Bossfight

The secret boss fight of CHAPTER [[GARY]] is Ben, who, after running away from the TV Studio Tower and into the streets of NEO City, gets possessed by Gaster. After phase 1 of Gary's boss fight ends, the TV Studio Tower will begin crumbling down below Gary and the party's feet, at which point both will jump onto the passing railway carts to escape the crashing building. At that time, EggShells will try to ambush Gary, but will land on a cart closer to the party's cart and fight them instead.
The party stands on separate moving railway carts while EggShells stands on its own, hurling attacks at them from a distance. If defeating him through ACTing, EggShells will freeze mid-fight, Ben and whatever was in there with him struggling for control of the body. If defeating him through FIGHTing, EggShell’s body will simply start to fail and fall apart until he’s nothing but a black stain on the floor of the rail cart.

Trivia

• In the secret bossfight, EggShell’s bossfight heavily references Spamton NEO’s; both take place on some sort of railway system, over a trashed city, with an Addison-looking opponent with a brand new body and power.
