Wendy
- Wendy
Wendy is a mini-boss exclusive to the Insider Route, being accessible only if venturing into the basement in the TV Studio Tower. Wendy is an artificial Darkner, an Addison made my Gary as a on the ground news and weather reporter. It's implied that, during the times they were sent outside, they'd get very badly hurt and corrupted. Sick of fixing them all the time, Gary decided to let Wendy's code keep corrupting and discarded them in the studio's basement, where they've been locked in ever since.
Profile
Appearence
Wendy is an Addison-looking Darkner. They wear a black vest over a white sleeveless white shirt with a lilac gem in the neck area. They wear white pantashoes with high golden heels and white gloves with a single lilac gem on the outer side of the glove. They also wear big yellow star-shaped earings that float on each side of their head.
Wendy's body is a weird mix of solid parts and a smoke-like substance that makes up their back, shoulders and arms. Their hair is styled like apompadour, the front part being a rainbow texture that dissolves as it goes further into the back of the hair. Inside the smoke-like texture it's possible to see several 4-pointed stars twinkling in a lighter shade of purple than the body of the character. Their nose is long and thin, their eyes and mouth perpetually stuck open in a grin, the inside completely covered in a lilac shiny substance.
Personality
Wendy is very disconnected from everything and everyone, leaving them in a mercurial state that consequently makes them act very reckless. With the conbination of being trashed and thrown away by their creator, leaving them without a purpose in life but still with the drive to do something, Wendy is left aimless in life. Consequently, their temper tends to change like the weather; being fast and unpredictable with any choices in their daily life. Wendy fails to recognise familiar faces at first, and has a hard time explaining their -sometimes deranged- thoughts and ideas. You'll find them speaking nonesense most of the time, with nuggets of truth sprinkled in between their garbled speech.
Main Story
History
Due to Gary's phobia of the city outside the safety of his broadcasting tower, he creates an artificial Addison to serve as a on-the-ground news reporter for the news network. Due to the city's hostile environment [acid rains, criminal action, usual corruption and lagging], the artificial reporter would almost always return back to base in need of repairs. After dozens of nights manually repairing this Addison's code, Gary eventually gave up and let it crumble apart day after day.
After ratings started to go down due to the news reporter's ghastly and corrupted look, Wendy was thrown in the basement under the broadcasting tower. Gary assumed they would simply cease to exist if their code kept going like this, so he just left them there. They did end up disappearing from the spot they'd been thrown in, but they weren't gone. Wendy, now a walking mess of news and weather reports, wanders the empty hallways of the basement, looking for the next big headline for their job.
Chapter [[GARY]]
If the player keeps exploring the ground floor, they’ll start finding remnants of Queen’s Mansion and realizing the TV Studio Tower was built on top of the structure. After solving some puzzles, they can unlock an old door that leads to the old basement where the Spamton NEO fight took place. While exploring, the player will find many logs and pieces of machinery that indicate that someone -implied to be Gary- was using the basement as some secret lab to run experiments and build a machine. The remains of the now crashed NEO suit are now being used to build a machine to look or even travel “somewhere else”. By the logs, it seems that Gary is in a great hurry to leave, as if running away from something. He also mentions how he’d been experimenting on what other kinds of life he could create akin to Ben. During the exploring, the player will run into someone else lurking in the basement; a purple smoky figure stalking and throwing attacks at Kris while they explore the basement. Eventually, said attacker will reveal themselves to Kris; some Addison-looking Darkner who, realizing Kris is working for Gary, decides to fight them.
After a quick CHECK, the player learns that this is Wendy, probably whatever experiment Gary had once worked on. Wendy is a mini-boss fight exclusive to this route, and the only non-required fight of the whole game, as the player can complete almost all the routes in the game and never encounter them. Wendy’s attacks are news and weather themed, mostly the latter. During battle, through tidbits of dialogue, it can be assumed that Wendy was created and worked for Gary as some sort of on-the-ground news reporter or a weather reporter, but that over time she grew corrupted due to the place’s harsh environment and Gary getting tired of fixing her. Wendy can be defeated by depleting her HP to 10% or filling her MERCY up to 100%. Regardless, the only difference between both approaches is some changes in dialogue. When defeated, Wendy will hand the player the logs of Gary’s plans. This is a required item to unlock the secret boss of the game.
Relationships
Gary
Their creator and former boss. Wendy has an odd unhinged relationship with Gary. They jump from describing themselves as an abandoned offspring, a unruly ex-employee; whatever that may be, it gets narrowed down to the point that Wendy feels wronged by someone she looked up to in one way or another. Due to the way Gary created Wendy, it is unknown if Wendy's feelings of betrayal and being wronged are something that inherently comes from their code, being made as someone to fulfill a specific task, or if they're feelings are their own. Regardless of what it may be, it is implied to be half the reason Wendy goes insane after Gary locks them up in the basement of the TV Studio Tower.
Ben
Weird sibling situationship? It's complicated. Wendy was someone who was around when Ben was little, but had no interactions with the boy as he was in the care of somebody else, and Wendy was already busy all the time doing news reports and traveling around the city. During their mini-bossfight, Wendy will ramble about Ben, describing him as either her "baby brother" or "fellow employee". It's not specified exactly how she sees him, but it does seem that Wendy is aware of how Gary treats his own son and expresses empathy for the boy. It is implied that Ben has no memory of Wendy or knows that they're living in the studio's basement.
Sul
It's implied that Sul and Wendy shared a quick interaction at the end of the Outsider Route. When breaking into the TV Studio Tower to get to the basement, it's implied that Sul had to fight Wendy to get to the portal machine. It's unknown what happened to Wendy after the confrontation.
In-Battle
Attacks
Wendy is a mini-boss met in the burried basement of the TV Studio Tower. Wendy's is unique in its pattern, as the order of her attacks follow a randomized pattern and not a scripted one as most other enemies in-game have. Their attacks are mainly weather themed, hinting at the fact that she might have been the news station's weather reporter. Some of their attacks are:
- Heatwave: A sun shape appears above the Bullet Board, from which wiggly lines -implied to be sunrays- descend outwards onto the board. Running into the sunrays deals damage.
- Acid Rain: The Bullet Board narrows and stretches up to match the height of the screen. Acidic rain will start pouring down in intervals (3-5 seconds of rain with 1 second of interval), in which the SOUL must take refuge under scrolling platforms that serve as protection for the rain. As the attack goes on, a growing puddle of acid will start forming at the bottom of the Bullet Board, taking up more and more space. In the style of a vertical platformer, the SOUL must keep going further up the Bullet Board to find new protections from the rain, but also to not get engulfed by the growing acid pool at the bottom. Getting hit by the rain or running into the puddle deals damage.
- Starfall: Rotating stars will come falling down onto the bullet board in groups of 2-4, exploding into smaller stars when hitting the bottom border. Getting hit by the falling stars or their smaller stars deals damage.
- Thunderstorm: A row of lightning bolts hit the bottom of the Bullet Board from above in quick intervals, moving across the Bullet Board to chase the position of the SOUL. The SOUL must keep moving and not corner itself so not to get hit. Being hit by the lightning bolts deals damage.

Trivia
- Wendy was not included in the first draft of the story, being added when the story was later revised to include more detailed environments and having the storyline expanded.
- Wendy's backstory seems to be inspired by the character Mangle from the FNAF series, since both are machines that got progressively more and more broken with time, leading to whoever was in charge of fixing them to to stop doing so.
