Isaac "Mr.Flex"

Isaac, also known as Mr.Flex, was an GENT employee who worked exclusively with Joey Drew Studios at installing and fixing the ink machine. He worked almost exclusively around the music department, since that was the first few places where pipes and drainage systems were installed. During his time there, he made a small friendship with one of the background singers working in the music department, a lady named Daisy, who gave him his nickname of “Mr.Flex” after their first encounter, where she found the man drawing a cartoon little guy of his own on a napkin.

After the studio fell to darkness and everyone was consumed by the machine, Isaac was reborn as an ink creature resembling the one he’d gotten his nickname from. He wanders around looking for Daisy, hoping that she too made it across from the ink and was reborn. During his wandering, he’d find Beast and have to face the demon occasionally.

Profile

Appearence

Isaac is a humanoid ink creature, his body of a large muscular build. His body is completely covered in black skin/ink except for the lower half of his face, which is white with the black dripping and running down the sides of his face. His face is round with big uneven horns curved inwards. His eyes are in the style of pie-cut eyes from old 1920s cartoons, his right eye black and his left is white, though it is usually hidden behind the ink covering his face. Isaac has a long black tail that sprouts from his lower back, covered in the same black inky substance as the rest of his body.

He wears a white button up shirt with its sleeves rolled up above his elbows. Over those, he wears yellow pants with yellow suspenders, the area around the pant leg’s ankles stained a darker shade of yellow from walking and dragging around in the ink. In his Dark Revival look, Isaac wears a black vest over his shirt, two small yellow pins attached to the edge of the vest’s right lapel. The sleeves of his shirt are ripped over the elbow, and his suspenders hang down by his sides, the right suspender being gone. A yellow name tag hangs off of the left suspender.

Personality

Isaac is a nervous wreck trying to maintain a stoic but hopeful demeanour, though he’s failing miserably at it. Isaac never truly figured out what happened to the studio; he knew Joey Drew was up to no good, probably meddling with powers far beyond his control, though he never put together quite exactly what happened. In the state his life was in now - far from home, his body changed beyond recognition and seemingly no way out of the hellish studio - he had to simply get used to what life would be like until something else changed, until somebody came to save them all. Despite the crushing hopelessness that they’d ever be found, Isaac still thought back to people he knew in the studio and, seeing how most of them were still around, though changed just as much as he was, he began his quest to find someone who he’d become friends with.

Story

Studio Days

Isaac Bien-Aimé was born July 12th 1910 in an unspecified area in Europe (theorised to be either France, Germany or England). In his early 20s, he moved to the US looking for work as a mechanic following the Industrial Revolution. He eventually found work as a mechanic for the GENT Corporation while they were recruiting workers in a rush for a new project in partnership with an animation studio by the name of Joey Drew Studios.

Isaac was placed working at the studio’s Music Department where the first few parts of the machine were being installed. He never quite understood what said machine was for, something related with ink from the amount of pipe work he had to do, but he wasn’t getting paid enough to worry about it too much. As one of the bigger people in the group, Isaac was tasked with the rougher parts of mechanics: carrying around heavy pipe pieces and machinery, which caused him to be the one responsible for most disturbances in the Music Department. The whole of the music department, especially Sammy, who was already angry enough about people installing loud messy pipes at his workplace, found Isaac to be a pain to deal with. He was a quiet but occasionally clumsy man due to being the one left with all the heavier work on his shoulders In a place where people needed the quiet to record voice lines and music, some big guy dragging and carrying around heavy machinery was awfully distracting.

While on a lunch break, mindlessly doodling on a napkin something akin to the cartoon characters he’d seen plastered on the walls of the studio, the man was startled as someone spoke over his shoulder.

” What’s its name? ”

One of the choir singers from the Music Department was also on a lunch break and had decided to peek in on the men working to install the ink pipes. She never bothered to introduce herself, only repeating her question. Isaac was confused for a moment before she pointed at the crude little doodle he’d made; a big demon in a suit and crooked horns. Isaac didn’t have a name for it, so the woman decided to name it Mr.Flex since it looked so crass and brute. It managed to get a laugh out of Isaac and, ever since then, he kept an eye on this woman who seemed to not hate him nearly as much as the rest of the studio. Eventually, he found out her name was Daisy.

After the Fall

When Isaac fell into Joey’s plans and became part of the machine is unknown. When he came back to himself, he only remembered a not deep-rooted sense of urgency, and that something was horribly wrong. His body had been changed into some weird mockery of the Mr.Flex doodle he’d made, the whole studio was in shambled, with nobody else in sight.

With everything and everyone’s fate uncertain, Isaac began wandering around the studio by himself, trying to find anyone so they could all figure out what was going on. He wandered alone for an uncertain amount of time, the hours and days mingling together in the infinite sepias and yellows of the seemingly infinite studio. Before he could find anyone, Isaac soon got acquainted with the monsters that instead roamed halls: freakish, uncanny caricatures of the same cartoon characters he’d gotten so used to seeing at his workplace, workers and colleagues turned mindless, angry blobs of walking black goo. And, above all of them, some eldritch monster given physical form by the same machine Isaac had helped build.

During his hopeless wanderings, Isaac ran into another scavenger; some lady devil creature rummaging through boxes and containers for food. She ran away when Isaac called to her, but the man was sure that was Daisy, the choir lady he’d met while working at the studio. Now-a-days, he spends his time trying to find and catch her, hoping to at least have somewhat familiar faces around if they’re gonna be stuck here forever.

Relationships

Daisy

The only face Isaac - somewhat - recognises, also he kinda likes her. After their first encounter after the studio collapsed, Isaac devoted his cursed inky life to finding and, to a certain degree, protecting Daisy. As humans, she’d been the only worker at the Music Department who’d given Isaac her time and attention, something precious in the sea of overworked employees that seemed to permeate every corner at Joey Drew Studios. Isaac holds her at the highest regard for simply being human…ish, something now almost impossible to find in other people changed by the machine. Plus, Isaac is just down bad for the lady, though never properly admitting it.

Beast

Hates Beast with a passion. For the longest time, Isaac had no idea who or what Beast was, assuming it was just another devilish creation from the Ink Machine, though he was always curious over how it could be such a smart creature when everyone else that the Ink Machine had spat out where almost entirely nothing but angry, mindless blobs of ink. Once he found out who Beast actually was, fear turned into caution, which turned into anger and borderline annoyance. Despite his efforts to stay under the radar, Isaac and Beast are aware of each other, the extension of their interactions being limited to spouting insults at each other while Isaac tries to escape the creature.
