Kinder
- Kinder
Kinder is a mini-boss exclusive to the Outsider Route, being accessible only if venturing into the outskirts of Cyber City. Kinder is a Darkner originated in an unknown Dark World but residing in Gary's Cyber City. He's a mini-boss exclusive to the Outsider Route, being accessible only if venturing into the outskirts of Cyber City.
Kinder is also part of a small group of people who have been wronged by Gary, leaded by Sul. With the help of the player, they break into the TV Studio Tower to use Gary's portal machine to return back to their original Dark Worlds.
Profile
Appearence
Kinder is medium sized, bulky Addison-looking Darkner. He wears a big brown sweater, torn on the left shoulder and exposing doll-like articulations underneath. On the outer side of each sleeve, three X stitches hold the seems of the sweater together; one with red and yellow thread, and another with green and blue thread, placed interchangeably on each sleeve. Kinder also wears washed-white pantashoes that also cover his little tail.
Kinder’s hair is enormous and messy, reaching the floor and somewhat dragging behind him. It’s big and fluffy, cascading down his back in long unkempt tufts and hugging his face. His hair is coloured a muted dark brown with off-white roots reaching down to his chin. His face is angular and sharp, eyes usually half-lidded and frowning, nose long and hooked forward. His teeth are yellowed, sharp and somewhat uneven, mimicking a dog’s with big canines and mostly sharp edges. His cheeks have a scribbled on pattern with a multicoloured stroke of crayons, as if drawn-on. Kinder’s body is covered by a short layer of fur the same color as his skin, which is mostly kept hidden by his clothes. His hands are big and wide, his fingers sharp and curving inward like claws.
Personality
Kinder is a loner; he's reserved, but sweet under all that rough exterior. He's mute but very expressive, choosing to communicate with other people by using ASL. Under his lonely but threatening outer shell is a still quiet but kid-friendly goofiness; calm, collected, but entertaining to a younger audience. Kinder was created by a child to serve a child; he's like a toy or a diary, someone to tell your secrets to and form a bond as if they were a true friend. He’s inherently good at dealing with children, though his moral compass has been severely affected by the time he’s spent by himself. Kinder has been very affected by how he was discarded by his Lightner, who he owns his creation and purpose to. He’s still not sure of what to make of those feelings, so he’d rather burry them deep and try to go on with his life. In a group, he’s very protective of other members, especially if he deems them as friends or in need of protection to some degree. Under the shell of a dry uninterested person, Kinder holds a now muted down child-like curiosity for things, which he expresses by collecting trinkets he finds interesting.
Main Story
History
Kinder's Lightner was a little kid named Paige. She created Kinder - a sketchbook - from scrap office paper and whatever crafting materials she could find when she was around 6 years old. Paige would take her sketchbook around everywhere she went so that she could always write and scribble on it. One day as she went to the Hometown Library, she got to play on the new computers that had just been installed there. Too distracted by the shiny lights and buttons, and this strange man speaking to her through the screen, Paige forgot her sketchbook in the computer room when she left the place. The book fell behind the computer, getting covered by dust and the tangled wires of said computers. Kinder now lives in the outskirts of Cyber City, away from other people. Still bitter about being left behind and forgotten, replaced by the new shinier toys, Kinder still hopes someday his Lightner comes looking for him.
Chapter [[GARY]]
The player can venture down into the outskirts of the city, the place surrounded by tall metal poles and dangling green cables, mimicking a deep dense forest full of trees. Enemies were scarce if not none in this area. The further into the forest they went, the more the player would find what would look like crayon scribbles on the cold metal floor. While that happens, Ralsei would speak to Kris about how this place - the whole dark world - gave him a very bad feeling.
Before he could continue that thought, Kris and Ralsei get ambushed by a large creature that quickly engages in combat with the two. After a quick CHECK, the player learns that this is Kinder, one of Sul’s “team members” who they’re supposed to recruit. Kinder is a mini bossfight exclusive to this route. Despite being a very hostile enemy, Kinder’s attacks are mostly themed after childhood iconography, like arts and crafts, toys and books. Kinder can be defeated by depleting his HP to 10% or filling his MERCY up to 100%. Defeating him through FIGHTing will get Kinder to collapse on the ground, ending the battle, followed by Ralsei quickly healing them. If defeated through ACTing, Kinder will become much calmer after realizing he’d been fighting literal children. Regardless, Kris will be prompted to explain Sul’s plan to Kinder. Realizing they can trust them, Kinder decides to follow along, giving them one of two items before running off to presumably meet Sul at the pharmacy. If defeated through FIGHTing, Kris will receive the Paper Blade; a sharp pale blade that gives its opponent papercuts. If defeated through ACTing, Kris will receive the StickerSheet; a sheet of colorful stickers to go on your face.
Relationships
Gary
Kinder has never met Gary in person. He was told by Sul that he was the source of all their problems; the one tearing down the rules of their world for his selfish needs and wants. Despite Sul's meddling, Kinder remembers Gary's face on the Library computers, being the thing that scared off his Lightner when they forgot about Kinder in the computer room. For that reason and more, Kinder grew a disdain for the man behind all of his suffering.
Sul
If Sul is the brains of his own little operation to take down Gary, Kinder is the muscle. Kinder reluctantly follows Sul as he seems to know what they have to do to get revenge on Gary and return to their old lives. Because of that, Kinder serves as being some sort of bodyguard for the other Addison, even if he can't agree with everything the other man does sometimes.
In-Battle
Attacks
Kinder is a mini-boss met in the Outskirts of the new Cyber City. Kinder's fight lacks in the usual bullet attacks present in other fights, and focuses on bigger obstacles to dodge instead. Some of his attacks are:
- Crayons: Crayons fall onto the bullet board from above in intervals where a gap exists in between the crayons for the SOUL to escape through. Having the crayons fall on the SOUL or running into one deals damage.
- Teething: Mouths with sharp teeth bite down on certain parts of the Bullet Board, following the SOUL as it tries to dodge the previous attack. There's a small window of time for the player to exit the area of the mouth before the same bites down on the soul. Staying inside the mouth as it closes or running into a previous still visible mouth in the bullet board deals damage.
- Painbrush: A brushtip glides over the bullet board in random changing direction, leaving a trail of paint where it passes that disappears after 3 seconds. Running into the ink trails or brush deals damage.

Trivia
- Kinder's Light World counterpart is a sketchbook. A handmade, badly stitched together sketchbook, but made with so much love from a young Lightner.
- Furthermore, the character was created based off of the experiences of the creator had making sketchbooks by hand with scrap paper when they didn't have money to buy proper sketchbooks.
- Kinder has many Addison traits. That is due to the fact that, as a sketchbook, the scrap paper used to make his pages were printed emails and generic paperwork. Despite having Addison traits, Kinder has no wish to sell items and make money, taking more traits from his experience as a kid's prized possession
- Kinder is the only Darkner in Gary's world who's not originated from Cyber City, or any other iteration of the city like the rest of people that fell in.
- Kinder is mute and communicates through ASL, his speech bubbles being mute and his dialogue appearing in between brackets. This gets explained as due to the fact that he's the only Darkner not originated from Cyber City, therefore, he's not "compatible" with a technological world.
- Kinder's Lightner, Paige, is absant from Hometown where she's said to resign. Despite her unknown whereabouts, a design for her exists for both Light and Dark Worlds, showing her to be around the rest of the Fun Gang's ages.
